Somewhere along the way both Fiat and MINI decided that the ultimate marketing tool for their trendy, retro-inspired superminis was an endless stream of variations and special editions. And it’s worked. So it’s no surprise then that we’ve got another new Fiat 500 to add to the list of special edition Fiat 500s, this time it’s linking to an iconic design brand with the Fiat 500byGucci (and that’s Fiat’s joined-up ’500 by Gucci’, not our fat fingers on the keyboard).
The Quail motorsports gathering that is part of the Monterey Historics/Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance weekend is alive and well, according to the event's organizers. They say that although the owners of the Quail Lodge closed the hotel portion of the resort on Nov. 16, the golf course and clubhouse remain open and will continue to run the Quail Motorcycle Gathering on May 8, 2010, and the Quail, a Motorsports Gathering.
The Toyota Auris Hybrid, which will debut at Frankfurt
The Auris Hybrid will be the first Toyota Hybrid to be built in Europe – at Toyota’s UK plant. Scheduled to go on sale in the second half of 2010, the Auris hybrid utilises the same powertrain as the third-gen Prius, namely a 1.8 litre, 97bhp petrol engine with a bank of nickel-metal hydride batteries and an electric motor. This will give the Auris Hybrid a 0-60 mph time of around 10 seconds and emissions below the critical 100g/km (not 99g/km, by any chance?).
